Horizontal Directional Drilling Project

Drilling rig on a construction site with a red drill pipe and nearby equipment, surrounded by trees and a blue sky flag in the background.

Horizontal Directional Drilling | Water Testing Unit

Typically from an entry point a boring machine using hollow drill rods and a steerable head excavate a bore path using pressurized water or drilling fluids. A sonde is installed behind the drill head allowing for the locator to establish the location and pitch of the head. Communicating with the drill operator the locator directs the drill to follow a pre-determine bore path. Once the bore is completed a reamer is installed replacing the drill head. Multiple reamers can be used to increase the size of the bore. Once reaming is completed the carrier pipe is pulled in.
